The Heart Behind BarkBlogs

My journey with senior dogs has been a long, winding road, and it truly began with Hamish. He was my first rescued older dog—blind, deaf, and full of a quiet resilience that changed me forever. He lived to an incredible 19 years, proving that a "second chance" can become a long, beautiful chapter. I loved him so.

Then there was Barney, also blind and deaf, who matched Hamish’s milestone and made it to 19 as well. My beloved Jesse Boy, who I raised from a tiny pup, stayed by my side for 16 years. Losing him was like losing a piece of myself.

And now, there is Teddy, my sweet little gentleman at 16, still here, still teaching me that every day is a gift.

A Community of Four Paws

BarkBlogs isn't just about my boys; it’s about the whole pack that surrounds us. My life has always been a hub for the dogs who need us.

  • There’s Chewie, my son’s senior dog who is part of the furniture.

  • There’s Freddie, my daughter’s 4-year-old Pomeranian, who keeps the energy up.

  • We remember Kobe, my other daughter’s Labrador who we sadly lost last year.

  • And then there is Ralphy, who I looked after for nearly two years. His mum would drop him off at 4:00 AM on her way to work, and he became part of our daily ritual.

Each of them—from the tiny pups to the oldest retirees—has taught me something different about patience, resilience, and the quiet magic of growing together.

Introducing: The Mail-Run

Because these years are so precious, I believe they deserve more than a "scroll" on a screen. I wanted to create something as steady and personal as the bond we share with our old mates.

The Mail-Run is my way of moving off the internet and into your home—from my kitchen table to yours. It’s for the people who know that caring for an older dog slows your world down in the most beautiful way.

A Small Pause in Your Month

The Mail-Run is a monthly, physical letter delivered to your door. I created it for those quiet moments—maybe when you're out on the deck with a cuppa, or settled on the couch with your dog’s head on your lap.

Inside every envelope, you’ll find:

  • A Proper Letter: Honest stories from my life with the boys and the lessons learned from a lifetime of caring for the pack.

  • A Keeper Print: A high-quality photo of the boys for your fridge or mantelpiece.

  • Hand-Me-Down Hints: Practical, "non-clinical" tips I’ve learned the hard way—like the mats I had to lay down to keep Barney from skidding on the tiles, or the 4:00 AM rituals that keep an old dog feeling safe.

  • Physical Tools: Printed copies of my Medication Checklists and comfort guides to help with your daily routine.

Join the Pack

I truly love the "oldies" for the gratitude they show just for being alive. When they feel safe and secure, you can see it in their eyes. The Mail-Run is about sharing that security and wisdom so we can all make the most of the time we have.
